Always delightful to work with such beautiful shiny objects and this project did not disappoint. Working with the in house design team @Loewe and the vision they created for the launch of the newly refitted handbag department in Harrods Knightsbridge. First setting the scene with the back drop and floor created and covered with a beautiful newbuck in a nude which worked perfectly with the gold tools, making a calm yet warm environment for the 3m x 2.5 m floating bag. Loewe supplied us with 30 dark brown handbag grade hides so we could make the oversized handles and the detail that would serve as the outer. Each piece was carefully cut using traditional leather making techniques and diligently sewn together with attentive accuracy. We commissioned a huge oversized lock for the front of the back and this too was coated in the gold finish. The bag had 124 individual lines of tools, and over 1500 individual tools where used to make up the bags shape. We used a really thin steel wire for this as over time this would not stretched and also was quite undetectable giving the illusion of the tools floating in the air.
