"What’s your Shoe Story" was the title given to the project by the Selfridges design team to celebrate the launch of the newly refitted shoe department. Minki Balinki created over 5,000 shoes to fill the Oxford Street Stores Atrium. The shoes where created using the natural resistance of the material that would physically bend into place creating curved shapes and fixed into position using paper fasteners. We created 6 types of shoe and each shoe was in 6 different colourways that where printed in brightly coloured inks and die cut in there 100's. Colours where briefed in to reflect a pop art feel and be very playful. The shoe types we created included a wedge sandal, high heel, brogue and trainer both of which we threaded up with oversized laces. The installation was to be completely random in colour way and shoe type. The overnight installation was compleated by 22 people on the floor faith fully clipping on the shoes to the pre prepared rigging lines while 8 riggers in the roof looked after the truss rising.
